Our Mission:
Mission: Serving children and families suffering homelessness through free, Christ-centered education and care.
Precious Lamb Preschool, Inc. (PLP) is a non-profit organization committed to providing children and families suffering homelessness with free, Christ-centered education and care. PLP serves families in the Long Beach area who have experienced domestic violence, crisis pregnancy, substance abuse and homelessness. Families are residents of shelters or transitional programs. At no cost to the family, the young children benefit from a full day, developmentally appropriate preschool program while parents participate in their rehabilitation, job training or educational programs.
Our Vision:
Precious Lamb Preschool's vision is:
To be a beacon of light and hope to children growing up in a world that does not offer a message of hope. We desire to be a tangible support system for young children and their families who suffer from crisis. Through nurture, education and support, we hope to help bring restoration, stability and empowerment.
We wish to build awareness of and advocacy for the many young children and their families who suffer crises. We will reach into the community to create partnerships through which individuals and groups can tangibly impact the children and families through their service and/or resources. Through the partnerships of many, we aim to sustain and expand our resources so we will be able to reach out to the numerous children and families who could benefit from our specialized program.
Our Statement of Faith:
What We Believe:
1. GOD: We believe there is one true God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that the Triune God is the Creator of all things visible and invisible and that a knowledge of this truth is necessary to understand the meaning and goal of all reality.
2. THE LORD JESUS CHRIST: We believe in the pre-existence and deity of our Lord Jesus Christ and in his incarnation through the Virgin Mary and his full humanity. We believe in his sinless, obedient life, the reality of his recorded miracles and in forgiveness of sin through his shed blood on the Cross. We believe in his bodily resurrection, his ascension and his present ministry at the right hand of the Father. We believe in his personal Second Coming.
3. THE HOLY SPIRIT: We believe in the present personal ministry of the Holy Spirit in every believer. We believe every believer is indwelt by the Spirit, baptized by the Spirit into the Body of Christ and equipped by the Spirit with various spiritual gifts.
4. THE SCRIPTURES: We believe the Bible, the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired, the only infallible and authoritative Word of God, altogether sufficient for all matters of faith and practice.
5. HUMANITY: We believe that God created man as male and female in his own image. We believe each person has infinite worth and is answerable to his Creator. We believe man has fallen into sin resulting in spiritual death, and that the new birth, or regeneration, is necessary for his salvation.
6. SALVATION: We believe salvation is by God's grace alone, and is received as a gift from God through a personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
7. CHRISTIAN LIFE: We believe God calls every Christian to a life of good works and spiritual freedom, service to the church and community, separation unto God's will and away from evil. We believe in the sanctity of the home, purity in sexual relationships, the sacredness of human life, the necessity of manifesting the fruit of the Spirit and a Christ-like character, and the importance of a life of prayer, Bible study, Christian fellowship and personal witness.
