What makes Precious Lamb Preschool different from other preschools?
Precious Lamb Preschool provides Christ-centered early education and care for children ages three to five whose families live in a shelter or transitional program for homelessness, crisis pregnancy, substance abuse and/or domestic violence. Because children in crisis have very special needs and at times display behavior that is extreme, ranging from violent outrage to withdrawal from people or activities, we provide a more personalized program where the children receive lots of attention from teachers and the comfort and security of a small group setting. Precious Lamb Preschool's program is also unique in that it is provided at no cost to the families in crisis. Providing a free program is not free. PLP depends on the generous partnership of individuals, families, churches, community groups and foundations who are committed to support this vital outreach.

How long has PLP been serving the local community? Precious Lamb Preschool, Inc. was incorporated as a non-profit organization in the Fall of 1999. PLP welcomed its first two children to its classroom on February 8, 2002.

When can I volunteer? Precious Lamb's classroom is open from 8am-4pm, Monday-Friday, year-round. Volunteers are needed at various times throughout the week. If you are interested, please email  info@preciouslamb.org  or call (562) 243-1715 for an application.

Where is Precious Lamb located? Precious Lamb is located in downtown Long Beach. Our physical location is not published on materials because some of the families we serve have fled domestic violence situations. If you are interested in visiting, we welcome you to call for more information. If you have made arrangements to visit, make sure you come to our physical location and not the mailing address listed on materials. Any questions, please call or email.

What is the meaning of PLP's name and logo?
The meaning of Precious Lamb Preschool's name and logo is two-fold. First, the lamb represents Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, leading the way to salvation and a personal relationship with God. Second, the logo symbolizes a precious lamb leaping to new life in Christ. New life in Jesus Christ is represented by the butterfly. It is our desire to share God's love with the children and introduce them and their families to Jesus, the Precious Lamb of God.

Why is my support needed? Precious Lamb Preschool, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, provides its program at no cost to the families served. As a result, all funds must be raised through the generous giving of individuals, churches, community groups and foundations.

How does my support help?  Your support provides a safe place and well-trained teachers enabling the children to learn and grow.
